Mr. Ashley Brady, Vice-President and principal agent, is a life-long resident of the City of Marion and grew up in the family-owned agency. He is a 1989 graduate of Francis Marion University and was licensed in Property & Casualty the same year. He earned his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation in 2002. He joined the SC Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Board in 2002 and served as Chairman during 2012-2013 term. He also served as the National Director of the SC Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers.

Ashley’s community involvement includes serving as President of Marion Rotary Club, past President (twice) of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Historic Marion Revitalization Association (charter member), and Pee Dee Academy Board of Directors. He was Scout Master with Boy Scouts Troop #708 for 25 years and has hiked Philmont Scout Ranch on three occasions with Scouts from Marion. He is currently serving his second term as Mayor for the City of Marion.

The youngest of seven children, Mrs. Ruth was raised on a farm in Centenary, S.C. She began working for First Charter in 1955 while a junior in high school after her older sister, who worked for the company, mentioned the company needed a part-time employee. After graduation, she continued to work for First Charter full-time and was able to purchase the agency in 1982. The business thrived under her leadership, and she was able to purchase two additional agencies and add real estate to the list of services. Her love for her customers and business continues as she is still actively working at First Charter.

Better known as Brady, serves as the Broker-in-Charge and handles sales and property management for First Charter.

Brady, a US Navy veteran, met Ruth Richardson while stationed in Charleston, SC in 1958. After his military enlistment concluded, he began a career in finance. The family moved back to Marion, SC in 1966 where he worked in the textile industry until 1983. Since then, Brady has been leading the real estate business at First Charter.

Abby is a real estate agent and manages First Charter’s real estate listings. She received her real estate license in 2002 and has more than 20 years of experience in various types of real estate including residential, commercial, lots, and acreage. She also serves on the Pee Dee Realtors Association Board of Directors. As a resident of Marion for over 30 years, she is knowledgeable about the area, and can help you find the perfect home for you and your family.

Shelley specializes in commercial lines and is licensed to write Property & Casualty, Life, and Accident insurance. She began her career with First Charter in 1999 and has over 20 years of insurance experience. Shelley is also First Charter’s office manager.

A native of Marion, Shelley is very active in her community. She is currently serving in various community organizations such as the Historic Marion Revitalization Association (Board member and past President), ACS Relay for Life, The Azalea Garden Club, Marion County Board of Appeals, and Marion County Progress. When not assisting customers or volunteering, she enjoys spending time outdoors gardening or running, and enjoying events in her hometown.

Shannon joined First Charter in 2007 and has over 15 years in the insurance industry. She specializes in Personal Insurance such as home, auto, boats and recreational vehicles.

When she’s not in the office assisting customers, Shannon enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks.

Rebecca joined First Charter in 2021 as the receptionist and became an agent the following year. She specializes in Personal Insurance such as home, auto, boats and recreational vehicles. She enjoys helping her customers find the right insurance coverages for their needs.
